Heavenly Horses of the Silk Road - Khiva Extension

Breakfast.

You take the road towards the Chimgan mountains which are located east of Tashkent. The village Kumushkan is 50 km from Tashkent and the journey takes around 1h15m. You find the horses at the entrance to the Kumushkan village (1500m altitude). You begin the horseback ride towards the Kumushkan pass (2500m altitude). You follow the Aksakata river with its breathtaking wild landscapes. After 3 hours of riding you climb the pass and stop for lunch.

Picnic in nature. 

In the afternoon you descend to the river Nurekata. You continue hiking along the river. You set up camp at the end of the day at the edge of a spring called Takhtakupir (1400 m above sea level).

Dinner around the campfire. Night in the tent.

Breakfast.

Third day of hiking, you head towards the Koum Bel pass (2000 m altitude) and make a steep ascent over the pass. You will have a splendid view of the Chimgan peak from the pass.

Picnic in nature on the pass.

You descend to the Yongoksoy gorges (1400 m above sea level) in the afternoon and set up your tent near a spring. The hike will be a little shorter than usual allowing you to have time for rest and relaxation and thus rest the horses.

Dinner around the campfire. Night in the tent.

Breakfast.

In the morning you head towards Mount Chuqqitov following the river (1700 m above sea level).

Picnic in nature.

You arrive at the summit early in the afternoon. In the afternoon, you come back to the camp in Yangoq Soï gorges.

Dinner around the campfire. Night in the tent.

19 km: 5-6 hours of riding)

Breakfast. You head towards the Gulkam gorges with breathtaking landscapes and views of the snow-capped peaks.

Picnic in nature.

Arrival in Gulkam around noon. You discover Gulkam waterfall. You arrive at Yangi Korgan (1000 m altitude) in the afternoon. Set up your tent near a spring.

Dinner in a local restaurant. Night at the hotel.

Breakfast. You head towards Chimgan village by the pass with a beautiful view on Charvaq lac.

Picnic in nature.

You arrive at the village (1000 m altitude) in the afternoon. You say goodbye to your horses and the mountain team. You return to Tashkent. Installation at the hotel.

Dinner in a local restaurant. Night at the hotel.

Breakfast.

Transfer to the station and you take the TGV to Samarkand at 7:00 a.m. Arrival at 9:10 a.m. In the morning you visit the mausoleum of Amir Timur and the majestic Registan Square. The visits
continue with the Siyob market and the Bibi Khanoum mosque after a walk on Tashkent Street.

Breakfast in a local restaurant.

Visit the Chakhi Zinda necropolis, a huge cemetery formed around the tomb of Qussam ibn Abbas, the nephew of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.v). And then, you discover the ruins of the Ulugbek observatory.

Dinner in a local restaurant. Night at the hotel.

No riding.

Breakfast.

You take the road to the village Ukhum which is 210 km from Samarkand. You leave the hotel at 8:30 a.m. Around 1 p.m. you arrive in the village Porasht (500 m above sea level) where the
horses are waiting for you. You get to know the family and have lunch.

Lunch with the locals.

In the afternoon, you head towards the village of Ukhum (21 km). The duration of the riding lasts around 4 hours with the horse walking normally. As the terrain is flat, you go at a gallop which
will reduce the duration. Arrival in Ukhum (950 m above sea level) at the end of the day and installation at a local home.

Dinner and overnight stay with locals.

210 km (21 km: 5 hours of riding)

Breakfast. Taking advantage of the cool morning air, you head towards the village of Mojurum.

You pass a few small passes between the villages and will have the terrain to gallop. The journey time is around 3 hours including the gallop. You arrive at Mojurum (700 m above sea level)
around 1 p.m. You will be welcomed into a local family. Settling in a private home.

Lunch with the locals.

In this mountain village you will see a gigantic fir tree which is 2500 years old. Walk in the village and you visit the village and beautiful landscapes all along the river.

Dinner and overnight stay with locals.

Breakfast.

In the morning you head towards the village Sentob (700 m above sea level). You arrive in the village around noon and stop at a guest house. The ideal terrain for galloping. The duration will
be reduced by half while galloping.

Lunch with the locals.

In the afternoon, you take your horses to discover the historic part of the village which is 5 km away. You visit the ruins of the Sentob fortress (950 m above sea level). You walk around the village. Meeting with the locals. Return to the locals at the end of the day.

Dinner and overnight stay with locals.

Breakfast.

You take the road to Bukhara at 8am. Your route passes through the town of Nourata where you arrive around 9:30 a.m. You visit the historical monuments of Nourata: the Tchilustun and Panjvakta mosques, the sacred spring with fish. You also visit the ruins of the defensive walls.

Around 11 a.m. you hit the road again and arrive in Bukhara around 1:30 p.m.

Breakfast in a local restaurant.

You begin your discovery of Bukhara with the monuments of the outer city. You visit the summer palace of the Emir of Bukhara. Then you go to the mausoleum of Naqchbandi, a renowned Sufi,
whose tomb is visited by thousands of pilgrims. If you want to learn more about Sufism and dervishes, you have come to the right address. You end the day with a visit to the Chor Minor madrassah. Installation at the hotel.

Dinner in a local restaurant. Night at the hotel.

No riding.

Breakfast.

You visit the mausoleums of Ismail Samani and Chachma Ayoub, the citadel of Ark, the oldest traces of which date from the 5th century BC. BC, and the Bolo Khaouz mosque dating from the
beginning of the 17th century. In the afternoon you visit the Ulugh Beg and Abdul Aziz Khan Horse riding – second partmadrassahs, the Po-i-Kalyan complex composed of 3 monuments: the Kalyan minaret, the Mir Arab madrassah and the Great Mosque

Breakfast in a local restaurant.

The visit continues with the discovery of the entire “Lyabi Khaouz” meaning “the reservoir” around which stand monuments such as the Koukeldach Madrasa, the Nadir Divanbegi Madrasa and the Great Khanaka. The circuit continues with a possible break to stop for tea or refreshment in a Chai Khana, a local tea room, on the edge of a pond. Continuation of visits: the Magoki-Attari mosque, the medieval markets (Toki Sarrafon, Toki Telpakfuruchon, Tim d’Abdullakhan, Toki Zargaron).

Transfer to the airport at 8:30 p.m. and flight to Tashkent at 9:40 p.m. Arrival in Tashkent at 10:40 p.m. Transfer to the hotel. Night at the hotel.

Dinner at a local restaurant between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.

NB: those who wish to extend to Khiva will take the road at 4 p.m. to Khiva. Dinner on the road. Arrival to Khiva hotel around 11 p.m.

Without Extension: Breakfast. Transfer to the airport and return flight.

With Khiva: 

Arrival at 7:10 a.m. in Khiva and transfer to the hotel.
