Once, steppe ecosystems covered 25% of the Earth's land area, but now many regions have been largely transformed for agriculture. The Mongolian steppes are the only ones that remain intact. The high altitude of Mongolia results in exceptionally clear air and starry nights throughout the year, providing a breathtaking visual experience of emptiness and vastness as one rides into the expansive Mongolian landscape. The silent, treeless steppe stretches endlessly, with no fences in sight and minimal signs of human presence aside from the nomads and their livestock. This journey will take us through diverse habitats, with sporadic water sources supporting wildlife. While wolves can often be heard during the summer, they are rarely seen. We will ride through rugged terrain, with all our gear transported by a support vehicle, and a ger (Mongolian yurt) set up to serve as our mobile dining facility.

For 30 years we are a leading tour operator in Mongolia, focused on low impact sustainable tourism. We work with numerous community groups/enterprises and conservation initiatives around Mongolia. Our philosophy is to offer a slow paced low impact travel experience, visiting different places on a horse back, a yak carts, and a camel carts rather than traveling long difficult journeys on a vehicle. In all of our destinations, each of our camps guarantees a 360 degree unbroken view of the Mongolian landscape.

The area is stunning, and everything was well organized and dependable. We stayed at a lovely ger camp and had a fantastic guide for the entire trip. Thank you for this wonderful experience!

Outstanding communication before my trip. I was able to easily customize my tour based on the dates and attractions I wanted to visit. The tour guide made every effort to show me all the things I was interested in and provide the experiences I desired, such as meeting nomadic locals, riding a camel and observing gazelles. Additionally, the food was exceptional. The cook was truly amazing.

The landscape is breathtaking, and the ger accommodations are cozy, with friendly hosts who speak English. We enjoyed three meals daily, which included traditional Mongolian cuisine and fresh vegetables grown on-site. However, be aware that cell service is mostly unavailable in the area. Occasionally, you might catch a signal for messages and notifications if you stand on a hill or sand dune. They do provide a spot in the dining ger for charging your devices, though.
