The Land and Animals
Kenya is proudly home to Africa’s second highest peak, Mt Kenya, located in Laikipia. This mountainous terrain also belongs to endangered animals such as Grevy’s Zebra and Reticulated Giraffe.
In the Chyulu Hills, the snow-capped, free-standing Mt. Kilimanjaro reaches through a bed of clouds, presenting a stunning backdrop as you trot along the rolling grass plains.
Horse-riding holidays in Kenya offer the thrill of encountering predators, such as lions, in their natural habitat. Cheetahs and leopards may also pop out from their camouflage in the long grasses. Our guides are a wealth of knowledge, and you will be completely safe from the saddle of your new horse friend.
Colourful Culture
You will delight in Kenya’s fascinating culture: a fusion of bright colors, music, and agricultural traditions.
Our horseback tours through the Kenyan countryside allow equestrians to learn about the sacred Maasai tribes and their mighty warriors. Rural Kenya is known for its abundance of agriculture, national parks, and reserves. The rural inhabitants of Kenya, such as the Maasi, employ unique farming practices. Such methods include gathering the products from the farm animals without killing them.
Horse Tours Club
Kenya was the birthplace of horseback safaris in the 1970s. Horse Tours Club offer a variety of horseback riding safari expeditions with veritable partners. Our partners pride themselves on their beautiful, healthy horses and their guides who are well-versed in the flora and fauna, history, and culture of the region. A horseback riding safari in Kenya will quench your call for adventure.
Our Tours
One tour we offer is a traverse across the wide-open spaces of the Mara. This 7-night safari tour takes riders from one side of the Masai Mara to the other. Sleep and dine beneath an onyx, star-freckled sky. Canter alongside the world-famous wildebeest migration from July to October. This extraordinary sight includes thousands of wildebeest and zebra making their way to greener pastures in the Mara.
Not to mention, the high-density grasslands lure plenty of big cats. Meeting such incredible beasts is a heart-racing experience to tick off the bucket list!
During this riding safari, we cross a variety of rivers such as the Mara River. Spot the hippos submerged beneath the water, and the crocodiles slithering below. Explore the northern region of the Mara. Scale the Soit Olololol Escarpment and take in the incredible view of the entire Mara ecosystem in all its glory. Diverting west, we descend into the Olare Ork Valley, teeming with magic and ancient lore. Watch elephants wallow in mud baths, giraffes bickering, and cheetah catching their breath beneath the shade of a tree. Ride alongside the lion, buffalo, and elephants. The last camp spot is tucked into a grove of acacia trees, hugging a stream of the Loita Plains.
Another trip we offer is an 8-night ride under the shadow of Kilimanjaro. A horseback safari that combines aromas, culture, views, and wildlife. This trip features a trot alongside Amboseli’s famous herds of elephant. You will head eastwards towards Amboseli, a region that parallels the Tanzanian border and a landscape ripe for viewing game. Encounter kudu, impala, wildebeest, and gazelle as you head to the Ngorambuni rocks. Soak in the idyllic views of Amboseli, camp in a dried-up lake, explore the Meerschaum mines, and Lake Amboseli. Travel across the green swamps of national parks and the rolling plains between Amboseli and the Chyulu Hills. This tour offers an educational experience in the lives and cultural practices of local tribes’ people.
We also offer an 8-night tour across the wide plateau of Laikipia. Across private land, this secluded, exclusive horseback safari is an authentic encounter with wildlife in their dramatic natural habitats. These private ranches are hosts to the Big Five: the rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, and buffalo. Throughout the ride, the mighty Mt. Kenya encompasses the backdrop. Explore Bornana by horseback, take in the sheer views of the escarpment below, and picnic along the Ngare Ndare Riveer. Traverse the first ridge of the Loldaiga Hills, a northern extension of the Mt Kenya Massive, which is a rocky terrain scattered with woodland. Trek through private ranches, along rolling yellow-green hills and along the beaches of rivers teeming with lush grasses. Enjoy a rehabilitated cattle ranch and witness game in proximity such as Jackson’s hartebeest, Grevy’s zebra, elephant, hippo, buffalo, lion, and giraffe.
