Most tours use Lusitano and Hispano-Arab crosses (known locally as “Cruzado Português”), often with some English Thoroughbred blood. All horses are well-schooled, forward-going yet calm, under 15 years old, and perfectly suited to Portugal’s varied terrain. We ride in comfortable English-style saddles.

English and Portuguese are spoken on every tour. Many guides also speak French, Spanish, German, Dutch, or Italian.

Almost all programs include full board (breakfast, lunch/picnic, and dinner) featuring fresh, local Portuguese cuisine, homemade products, and plenty of wine with dinner. Snacks and drinks are usually available throughout the day. For more details about the meals, please check with the tour provider.

Most tours follow this standard policy:

• More than 35 days before arrival → full refund
• 34–16 days before arrival → 50% refund
• 15 days or less → no refund
