Uruguay, renowned for its gaucho heritage and vast ocean coastline, is the perfect destination for horseback riding! Experience the allure of this tranquil hidden gem in South America as you ride through the stunning department of Rocha on exceptional horses with our team.

We will ride untouched beaches, lush pastures, challenging marshlands, iconic forests and ascend mountains; uncover ancient shipwrecks and navigate lagoons to reach a ranch at day's end, where you can relax in a hammock with breathtaking views.

During this horseback adventure, you'll have the chance to observe a diverse array of captivating wildlife as we journey through the Bañados del Este Reserve (UNESCO) from the Atlantic Coast to the Sierras del Castillos. We'll climb the three highest hills in the region—Cerro de la Virgen, Cerro de la Lechuigana and Cerro de los Rocha—to take in the spectacular vistas.

This adventure starts and concludes at El Mirador (Cerro de Los Rocha-Castillos).

Route details

Before noon we meet at El Mirador, next to the city of Castillos, where the riders will leave their vehicles.

We will arrive here on the last day of the ride.

From there we traveled by vehicle to our Ecolodge.

After a delicious lunch where we will meet the other riders on this adventure, we prepare the horses and equipment for this 3-day trek.

Along the beach and towards the north, passing through Aguas Dulces and then along one of the most pristine beaches in Uruguay, we can enjoy some adrenaline-filled gallops next to the waves, with no other spectators than some sea birds and dolphins that live here.

In Los Moros, our camp near the sea is waiting for us.

Our team has already prepared the tents and some fresh drinks and spirits for the first bonfire of this beautiful experience, but not before making sure that our travel companions already have their food and water to rest during the night.
