Route details

Arrive after 16:00 and settle into your room at the guesthouse overlooking the sea and mountains. Take a relaxing walk along the nearby beach and meet the horses grazing nearby.

Dinner is served at Låven Restaurant, where you will enjoy traditional Norwegian dishes made with fresh local ingredients while meeting your guide and learning about the week ahead.

Later in the evening, prepare for your first adventure: a Northern Lights horseback ride. After meeting the horses, ride through the moonlit winter landscape, with the possibility of the Aurora Borealis illuminating the sky. Return to the stables around midnight.

During the tour you will stay at Hov Gjestegård, a cozy guesthouse located on the Hov Gård farm.

The guesthouse offers six double bedrooms, shared bathrooms, and welcoming communal areas including a living room, kitchen, laundry room, and a spacious veranda. From here you can enjoy beautiful views of Hovstranda beach and the open Arctic Ocean.

Its peaceful location and open northern horizon make it an excellent place to observe the Northern Lights during winter months.

During our visit to the Lofoten Islands, we embarked on a Viking trek adventure. While some of us hadn't ridden for a few years, the younger members of our group were quite experienced. Our trek leader was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and the Icelandic ponies we rode. Icelandic ponies proved to be exceptionally sure-footed, and it was fascinating to learn about their unique gait, the tolt. We all thoroughly enjoyed our ride. Fortunately, the weather cooperated, but the riding center offers suitable waterproof clothing if needed. We highly recommend visiting this place, with a special mention to the restaurant which served amazing food. Thank you from the Scottish girls for a memorable experience.

The view from the camping site was absolutely breathtaking, and the beach was simply picturesque! We highly recommend booking the sauna in advance. Despite the rainy weather we encountered, the location more than made up for it.
