An unforgettable horseback adventure through the spectacular landscapes of Cundinamarca and Boyacá.

The route follows sections of historic rural roads through the fertile Ubaté Valley, past traditional farming communities, artisan villages, and breathtaking mountain scenery. Along the way, discover the charming textile town of Cucunubá, ride beside the beautiful Fúquene Lagoon, and explore the renowned pottery region of Ráquira.

One of the highlights of the journey is crossing the remarkable Desert of La Candelaria, a striking semi-arid landscape surrounded by centuries-old oak forests and dramatic hills. The route also includes an overnight stay at the historic Monastery of La Candelaria, founded in 1604 and recognized as the first Augustinian monastery established in the Americas.

The adventure concludes in the magnificent colonial town of Villa de Leyva, considered one of the best-preserved heritage towns in South America.

Tour provider's comments

This demanding point-to-point adventure is designed for experienced riders, featuring long days in the saddle, challenging terrain, and rewarding encounters with Colombia's rich natural and cultural heritage.

The pace typically will be 50% walking, 30% trotting and 20% cantering, this can be the average for the Barichara ride, a bit faster for Villa de Leyva and a bit slower for Casanare.
