Zambezi Safari

Experience an exciting adventure in the Simalaha Wildlife Conservancy with an afternoon ride along the Baobab Trail. The conservancy is home to 16 large mammal species that can be observed on the plains and in the surrounding mopane forest. You may even witness hundreds of wildebeest, zebra and lechwe grazing alongside local tribesman's cattle. 

Riding: 6-7 hours.

Overnight: camp.

Today's itinerary includes a ride to another section of the Conservancy for game viewing and a visit to a local village. Community members will provide riders with an introduction to their homes, offering a unique insight into community involvement within the Conservancy. It's an honor to be welcomed into traditionally-built mud-style homes and riders may even learn some local techniques, such as beer brewing or basket weaving.

If the weather is favorable, riders have the option to spend the night gazing at the open African skies from the safety and comfort of our open Star Beds.

Today, we will embark on a long River journey, starting early in the morning. During this ride, they will encounter numerous herds of wild animals such as wildebeest, sable and zebra. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to witness fishermen living in temporary shelters along the River's edge. Keep an eye out for fishermen using traditional dugout canoes known as Mokoros.

Overnight: camp.

Start the day early and take advantage of one last chance to gallop through the plains and spot wildlife before heading back to camp for an early lunch. In the afternoon, we'll travel by river to Mambova Harbour and then by road to the River Lodge. Upon arrival, guests will be welcomed to the lodge and can unwind with a refreshing drink while taking in the stunning views of the Zambezi River. The evening will be spent on a Sunset Cruise where guests can enjoy drinks and snacks while watching the sunset.

Following a restful night's sleep and a satisfying breakfast, guests are invited to spend the day exploring Livingstone and the renowned Victoria Falls. As part of the stay, a vehicle and guide will be provided to take guests to the Falls and show them around the town. Optional activities can also be arranged with the driver guide, at an additional cost. 

Victoria Falls is a must-see attraction, offering breathtaking views of the mile-long curtain of water, which can be experienced directly or from a helicopter ride. Livingstone has a fascinating history, having been established as a staging point across the Zambezi River and named after Scottish explorer Dr. David Livingstone. The town was once the capital of Northern Rhodesia and still retains much of its colonial character, making it a charming African town with bustling streets. Livingstone is now known as the tourist heart of Zambia, rich in scenery and heritage, and is sure to captivate visitors with its intriguing culture and history.

Another full day for you to relax at the lodge.There are many activities to choose from, some of which are seasonal and water-level dependent, while others have limited availability and should be booked in advance. The lodge's team is available to assist guests with activity arrangements. Although not all activities are listed, the lodge has a list of preferred experiences:
