Natural Horsemanship School

This day may be spent in the nature. Our ranch borders the Gila National Forest and Wilderness for diverse landscapes and riding challenges.

To ensure a secure and self-assured riding experience, students receive instruction on the correct utilization of equipment and gear. This helps reduce strain on both the horse and the rider. They also learn how to identify and prevent saddle sores, as well as how to keep their horse comfortable on the trail. Special attention is given to riding techniques for challenging terrain, with a focus on training for the long-term well-being of the horse.

Today we try to go on a next level of riding and may also ride in the area around the ranch, enjoying the landscapes and trying different terrains.

Improved horsemanship is instructed, integrating your bond with your horse to tackle obstacles while riding. The level of difficulty gradually escalates to foster trust and safety. Proficiency is gained through practice and attentiveness to the surrounding environment.

This day's training will be devoted to equine first aid skills.

This training will enable you to anticipate and address potential issues before they escalate. It allows you to quickly assess your horse's health status and provides solutions for problems such as colic, dehydration, inflammation, soreness, open wounds, saddle sores and others. You will also learn techniques to encourage your horse to drink enough water to prevent dehydration, as well as receive guidance on shoeing and hoof care.

Today we will learn planning your future horseback adventures.

Being mindful on the trail is important. When preparing for off-road rides, it's important to enhance your capability to deal with unforeseen circumstances. Planning a day trip involves having the right equipment, first aid kits, navigating with maps and GPS, carrying rain gear and fire-starting materials and keeping an eye on the weather. Being prepared ensures a safe return for you and your horse.

Aside from the technical aspects of the school, we present the following discussions during these 5 days:

• Horses live in the moment.
• Horses are completely aware of their surroundings.
• Horses remember “everything” from birth to death.
• Horses react positively with steady kindness.
• Horses are sensitive to weather changes.
• Horses express themselves outwardly if they are fatigued, thirsty, sick or injured.
• Horses live on nature’s clock.

After the training you can stay longer if you wish or drive back home right away. We hope our school has helped you enhance your skills and it's been fun!
