Horse Packing School

We continue learning while at the ranch. 

We will cover six steps to enhance your relationship with your animal. The key skills for the beginning are understanding of the true qualities and capabilities of your horse/mule and knowing their strengths and weaknesses. We will talk about other important skills for the tomorrow's camping, like first aid for horses and other aspects.

We will overnight at the ranch.

Today we will go camping with our horses. The area around the ranch is perfect for hiking and observing the nature, as well as riding horses.

The skills that will be developed today are packing and properly loading mules, leading a pack string over difficult terrain, camping with horses, leaving-no-trace behind and shoeing your animal.

We will camp in tents this night. 

We continue our wilderness adventure. 

Also, the learning process is still going on. Creating a strong bond with your horse implies also keeping an eye on the horse's health status and making the necessary steps in case the animal is having issues.

You will learn how to see at a glance the status of your equine's health; what and how to observe, steps to stay ahead of potential problems. First Aid will also be taught: solutions to colic, dehydration, inflammation, soreness, open wounds and saddle sores. You will learn how encourage your equine to drink.

Another important skills of the trail would be problem solving on the trail. Stay ahead of problems and actions to take to continue your journey. Measure fatigue in yourself and your equine partners.

The night will be spent in tents under the starry skies.

We end our camping trail and our training. 

Conducting a successful, safe trip, we have trained our skills in relationship development with horses, observational skills, technical use of hitches and equipment, equine first aid and situational awareness.

We ride back to the ranch and then you can return home.
