Nestled in south-eastern Spain, the Tabernas Desert stands as Europe’s only true desert, boasting over 3,000 hours of sunshine annually and receiving less than 250 mm of rain each year.
Covering an area of 120 km², it encapsulates the visual drama and beauty of the world’s great arid landscapes, making it an exceptional natural backdrop for films, TV series, music videos, commercials, and documentaries.
Often referred to as “Europe’s Hollywood,” the desert’s striking scenery has hosted legends such as Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, Claudia Cardinale, Alain Delon, and more recently Christian Bale, Ariadna Gil, Joaquin Phoenix, and Jean Dujardin — featured in productions like Exodus, The Hostile Zone, The Sisters Brothers, and El Zorro, among many others.
The expedition invites travelers to journey across the desert, starting from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and Filabres Mountains towards Tabernas. The route covers an average of 30 km per day, combining walking, trotting, and galloping to complete a full circular crossing of the desert.
