In south-eastern Spain lies the Tabernas Desert, the only true desert in Europe, with over 3,000 hours of sunshine and less than 250 mm of rainfall per year. Spanning 120 km², it mirrors the beauty of deserts across the world and has become a natural set for countless films, series and documentaries.

Known as the European Hollywood, these landscapes have hosted stars like Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, Claudia Cardinale, Christian Bale, Joaquin Phoenix and Jean Dujardin, in productions ranging from Exodus to The Sisters Brothers.

The desert covers five municipalities, including Santa Cruz, Alboloduy, Gérgal, Gádor and Tabernas, declared a protected area in 1989 for its geological and natural value.

I am 54 years old and I was born in France and I lived until my 15 years old. All my family is from Spain (Valencia) then I came back to Valencia where I finished my career and then I came to Almería (Tabernas) where I have been living for 30 years.

Tour provider's comments

Tour with monitor/guide to enjoy the three gaits of the horse, going down the steppe of Tabernas. Helmet is mandatory. In case you don't want to use helmet, we will need a private insurance copy as ou insurance works only according to the spanish laws.
