Sumadija: The Star Ride

On the first day of our horseback riding adventure, we will start our journey after enjoying a delicious breakfast at our farm. Our route will take us through the picturesque village of Ljuljaci and Konjusa, before reaching the charming Belo Polje. Here, we will be warmly welcomed by a wonderful host family who have been involved in farm tourism for many years. They will generously host us, providing us with cultural insights, mouthwatering culinary delights and a glimpse into their beautifully restored farm.

After this enriching experience, we will ride back to our farm in Kamenica, taking mostly dirt roads and passing through scenic wooded areas and along the edges of forests. Once we arrive back at our farm, we will treat ourselves to a delicious dinner.

Today, we will explore our village, Kamenica, which is situated on the foothills of Mount Rudnik. Our farm is located on the top of one of these foothills, offering stunning views of the surrounding area. Kamenica is divided into three parts, with the second part lying in the valley and the third settlement situated on the second mountain foothills, at an impressive altitude of over 700 meters above sea level. Throughout the village, there are numerous homesteads scattered around.

During our ride, we will pass by excavation sites of old churches, providing us with a glimpse into the rich history of the area. Additionally, we will have the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking views from the hilltops.

If the entire group is interested, we can make a stop at the renowned wine cellar Katanic. Here, guests will have the chance to taste and purchase high-quality wines.

Today, we will visit the famous Vracevsnica monastery, which was constructed in 1428. The nuns at the monastery kindly invite us to join them for a vegetarian lunch, which is not only delicious but also incredibly satisfying. Following our meal, the nuns will graciously open the monastery's museum for us, allowing us to delve even further into the rich history of both the monastery and Serbia as a whole. 

Once our visit concludes, we will make our way back to Kamenica. During our journey, we will ride a wooded hill, as well as travel along field and village roads, passing by farms along the way.

This morning, we will ride through Knezevac to Bare, where a warm and welcoming family will receive us. This family has extensive experience in farm and riding tourism and is actually the pioneers of horse trails in Serbia. Their farmhouse and property are charming and will provide our horses and us with the perfect setting to enjoy a lunch and engage in interesting conversations. Our paths will take us over hills, fields, partially through wooded areas and along the edges of forests and old villages where time seems to have stood still.

Today, we will head south from our farm towards a hunters lodge, where we will take a break and enjoy a delicious lunch. The trail for today's ride will primarily take us through the beautiful open countryside, passing by traditional Serbian villages and charming farms. Along the way, we will also have the opportunity to see a monastery and an old Serbian village school that has been well-preserved. 

The hunters lodge itself is small but full of character, and the hosts are warm and welcoming. The food served at the lodge is tasty, and we will have a scenic view that stretches into the distance. After our meal and a short rest, we will make our way back to the farm in a comfortable ride, where dinner will be served at the appropriate time.

On our final day of riding, we will travel towards the tranquil village of Ramaca, nestled high above sea level at an altitude of 800m. This sleepy village is adorned with two picturesque hills that rise sharply into the sky. During our time in Ramaca, we will have the opportunity to explore a church that has been safeguarded by the government since 1955, showcasing its historical and cultural significance. Following our visit, we will pause for a satisfying lunch. 

On our way back, we will also have the chance to discover a collection of handcrafted objects made by local villagers using semi-precious stones sourced from the surrounding area. As we make our way back to our starting point, guests can relish in the lush and distinctive Serbian landscape one last time, anticipating our final shared meal together.
