Upon arrival at the facilities at 9:30 a.m., you will embark on a four-and-a-half-hour tour to Ammaia, an ancient Roman city. Along the way, you will follow the serene Sever Virgin riverbank, which was once a historical route from Spain to Portugal. As you approach the ancient border, marked by a 15th-century tower and bridge, you will enter Ammaia, a 2,000-year-old city with a recently uncovered Roman amphitheater.

After a picnic and a brief exploration of Ammaia, you will return on horseback via a medieval cobblestone road, offering scenic views and a chance to see vultures. We will guide you past early Christian graves and granite sarcophagi, adding an intriguing historical touch to your journey.

Upon reaching your hotel for a rest, you will then visit Marvão, a remarkably preserved medieval town that will transport you back in time. As the sun sets over Marvão, known for its magical sunsets, you will enjoy this enchanting view before dining at a local restaurant. Finally, you will be taken back to your hotel to conclude the day's adventures.

You will travel along the historic path connecting Marvão and Castelo de Vide, passing through black oak forests and high hills. A stop will be made for a picnic in the middle of the journey, followed by a return trip along a trail surrounded by a landscape of rocks and the traditional Portuguese 'montados'. You will cross a few streams and take in the stunning view of Marvão before being taken back to your hotel for some rest. 

Later, you will explore Castelo de Vide, a medieval town rich in Jewish traditions. The Gothic neighborhood is particularly charming, and you will have the opportunity to savor an artisanal beer at a local tavern before heading to a restaurant and then back to your hotel.

Riding: 6 hours

Traveling along smuggling paths! You will ride a horse across the border twice on this adventure. First, you will journey to Galegos, the final Portuguese town, and cross over at Pitaranha. The only indication that you have entered Spain will be a stone with the letter E. As you descend to the charming village of San Pedro, you will pass by the 15th-century convent where St Peter of Alcantara resided. Nearby, you will explore a large inscription on a rock before continuing to a fountain where a Roman aqueduct originates.

A delightful picnic awaits you here, followed by a trek through the traditional Spanish countryside of 'dehesas', cork trees, and lush grazing fields for cattle. Your picnic will feature exquisite Iberian ham crafted from local black pigs. As you follow the aqueduct, you will veer towards La Miera to visit ancient dolmens, 5,000-year-old stone graves, and enjoy another picnic.

Returning to Portugal at La Fontañera, you will trace the footsteps of smugglers who once traversed this route to sell goods on the black market in Spain. Crossing the Sever River and navigating narrow trails, you will conclude your journey by resting at a hotel and savoring a final dinner at a local restaurant serving fresh, organic fare, complemented by a shot of ginjinha.
