Route details

Arrive after 16:00 and settle into the guesthouse. Enjoy a walk along the nearby white sandy beach or meet the horses grazing in the pastures.

Dinner is served at Låven Restaurant, where you will taste fresh local dishes while meeting your guide and learning about the farm.

Later in the evening, begin a three-hour Midnight Sun ride (15–20 km) starting around 22:00. Ride toward a hidden beach where you can try different gaits with your horse, stopping at midnight for snacks under the glowing Arctic sky before returning around 02:00.

During the tour you will stay at Hov Gjestegård, a comfortable guesthouse located on the Hov Gård farm.

The guesthouse offers six double bedrooms and shared bathrooms, along with cozy communal spaces including a living room, kitchen, laundry room, and a large veranda overlooking the sea.

From the guesthouse you can enjoy views of Hovstranda beach and the open Arctic Ocean, making it a perfect place to relax after long days of riding and enjoy the midnight sun of the Arctic summer.

Although our Icelandic horses are strong, we have a weight limit of 95kg for both short trips and for longer trips.

On longer tours, the weight limit may depend on your riding skills and experience.

During our visit to the Lofoten Islands, we embarked on a Viking trek adventure. While some of us hadn't ridden for a few years, the younger members of our group were quite experienced. Our trek leader was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and the Icelandic ponies we rode. Icelandic ponies proved to be exceptionally sure-footed, and it was fascinating to learn about their unique gait, the tolt. We all thoroughly enjoyed our ride. Fortunately, the weather cooperated, but the riding center offers suitable waterproof clothing if needed. We highly recommend visiting this place, with a special mention to the restaurant which served amazing food. Thank you from the Scottish girls for a memorable experience.

The view from the camping site was absolutely breathtaking, and the beach was simply picturesque! We highly recommend booking the sauna in advance. Despite the rainy weather we encountered, the location more than made up for it.
