Today, we will make our way across the Hunter River and into the picturesque Dingleburn Station, a property celebrated for its exceptional fine wool production. As we ride, the majestic Lake Hawea will transform before our eyes, its colors shifting and changing in a dazzling display of natural beauty.
Our destination is a true gem, managed by the warm and welcoming Mead sisters, Nikki and Bridget. We will be treated to a comfortable stay at the shearers' quarters, powered by eco-friendly hydro generation. After a day in the saddle, we can look forward to hot showers, flushing toilets, and soft beds, as well as a spacious cook shop and dining room where we can share stories and enjoy each other's company.
The Mead family is known for their hospitality, and we are often joined by one of the family members for a chat about the station's history, operations, and daily life. This is a unique opportunity to gain insight into the workings of a traditional New Zealand sheep station and connect with the people who call it home.
