Join us on Wednesday night at Grampians Station and ride with us on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. This option is ideal for locals, farm workers, hunters, and young farming couples who have fit horses and riders eager to meet new people, explore new landscapes, and enjoy some fantastic evening entertainment.

Day 1
Ascend Above the Rollesby Valley

On the first day we will ascend above the Rollesby Valley, traversing the outer reaches of the Hunter Hills. 

On a clear day, we can enjoy panoramic views of the Southern Canterbury Plains, the Hakataramea Valley, and gaze towards the majestic Mt. Cook! (Weather permitting). 

We will conclude our day by descending to the valley floor at the base of the Single Hill range, where we will stop for the night.

This trail is for intermediate riders. A decent level of fitness is required.

Expect extended riding sessions lasting over 6 to 8 hours of continuous riding

  • While we can offer some assistance with mounting and dismounting, it's important that you are capable of doing so independently at times.
  • Although we will handle saddling and unsaddling your horse, your involvement is expected in other activities such as gathering, grooming, or holding the horses.

  • an adventure horse to suit your riding ability;

  • 2 experienced adventure wranglers that will saddle and supervise the horses and our smaller groups movements each day;   

  • back up driver with 10 horse float available to sleep in and tents (with camp cots);  

  • shoeing of the horses;

  • horse and gear transportation;

  • saddle and all horse tack;                                                           

  • saddle bags / lunchbox;

  • helmets can be supplied;

  • approximately 2- hour exploratory ride on the 25th March 2024 to ensure you and your horse are comfortable (weather permitting);

  • tents 2 & 3 person (shared) or sleeping in the large horse truck with camp stretcher;

  • camp stretchers or sleeping mats if you prefer;

  • camp shower.

  • Waterproof coat / jacket, leggings & hat;

  • Hot weather gear e.g shorts & T- shirt;

  • Gaiters are a good idea to keep rubbish & rain out of boots;

  • Riding boots or boots with a heel suitable for walking;

  • Plate / bowl, cutlery, drinking vessel, tea towel;

  • Towel & toilet articles;

  • Sleeping bag & mat / stretcher;

  • Sunscreen & insect repellent;

  • Personal items and a roll of loo paper;

  • Small first aid kit for you and your horse;

  • Camera & torch;

  • Don’t forget a wee treat for yourself and your horse;

  • Water bottle;

  • Personal medications;

  • Money for the bar and Host Town;

  • Baby wipes are handy when hand washing difficult;

  • Small ground cover to put down in yards to put your gear on.
