Bayanaul National Park is one of Kazakhstan's protected areas and the country's first national park, this stunning area of natural beauty lies in the northeast of the country, in Pavlodar Province. According to an ancient legend, the Bayanaul landscape was created by god to offer shelter and beauty to weary travelers journeying across the vast Kazakh steppe. Bayanaul National Park is a place where rolling hills give way to shimmering lakes and weathered rock formations shaped by centuries of wind and rain.

Known as one of Kazakhstan’s most picturesque regions, Bayanaul offers a diverse natural landscape—pine forests, crystal-clear lakes, and ancient caves—providing both breathtaking scenery and spiritual significance.

The Bayanaul National Park horse tour is designed to offer an immersive and rewarding adventure through Kazakhstan’s stunning natural landscapes. Each day consists of 6-8 hours of riding across varied terrain, with breaks for meals, rest, and exploration.

Hi! My name is Alima, I am the owner of the stables and the horses. I come from a family of horse shepherds and breeders. I was born in Kazakhstan and spent some time studying and working abroad. On top of being a professor at the local university, I am a passionate advocate for Kazakhstan’s rich heritage and equestrian traditions. At our ranch, which is a family business, we continue to honor the deep connection between humans and horses—a bond that has been at the heart of Kazakh life for centuries. We take pride in offering immersive experiences, from leisurely horseback rides across the stunning steppe to cultural tours that dive into the history and traditions of the region. We have been conducting tours across Kazakhstan since 2019. As an avid equestrian and storyteller, I aim to share not only the beauty of the Kazakh steppe but also the tales of its people, history, and vibrant nomadic spirit. Whether guiding you through the sprawling steppe or the bustling landmarks of Astana, my enthusiasm and hospitality will ensure an unforgettable experience. With years of experience in hosting tours and a deep appreciation for the bond between humans and horses, I bring a personal touch to every journey. My perspective blends an intimate knowledge of Kazakh culture with a global outlook, ensuring that each guest feels welcomed, informed and inspired.

Safety Rules

Your safety is our top priority. All rides are guided by experienced horsemen who are familiar with the region and the horses. Before the journey begins, our guides will provide a detailed safety briefing at the ranch on how to handle your horse, maintain balance on different terrains, and communicate with the animals. Riders are required to:

  • Wear helmets at all times while on horseback
  • Follow the guide’s instructions during the ride
  • Maintain a safe distance between horses
  • Inform the guide immediately if they feel unwell or uncomfortable
  • Dismount only when instructed

Essential Skills

While the tour is accessible for those with little riding experience, we recommend that participants:

  • Feel comfortable spending several hours in the saddle
  • Have basic knowledge of horse riding commands such as starting, stopping, and turning
  • Be physically fit enough to handle moderate climbs and uneven terrain

If you are new to horse riding, our introductory rides on Days 1-2 will give you the chance to practice key skills under the guidance of our experienced team before setting off on longer rides.

Potential Risks

The beauty of Bayanaul's landscapes comes with some natural challenges, including:

  • Uneven trails through forests and rocky areas
  • Steeper climbs to Mount Akbet
  • Hot summer temperatures during daytime rides
  • Occasional wildlife encounters (deer, birds of prey, small mammals)

Our guides are trained to assess the group’s abilities each day and adjust the pace and route accordingly. There is always a support vehicle nearby for emergencies, and our team carries first aid kits and communication devices at all times.

With the right preparation and respect for nature, this tour promises to be a safe and unforgettable adventure through one of Kazakhstan’s most captivating national parks.

I was fortunate to spend a night at this amazing equestrian center in Kazakhstan, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The horses are not only beautiful but also friendly, and the two people running the center are incredibly kind and welcoming. They made every effort to ensure our comfort from the moment I arrived, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The center also features a guesthouse where I stayed. The guesthouse is spacious, with a large bathroom and sauna, and the food served is typical of Kazakh cuisine. Every dish was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this riding center to anyone seeking an incredible adventure with horses in an authentic setting.

My experience at this ranch has been nothing short of extraordinary. It’s a true gem for anyone seeking an authentic Kazakh nomadic adventure. I initially came here to learn how to ride horses, and since then, I’ve returned every year from the Netherlands as a more experienced rider to reconnect with the breathtaking nature of the steppe. The warm welcome you receive makes you feel like part of the family, and this warmth has remained constant throughout my visits over the years. The ranch offers a variety of experiences, catering to both first-time riders and seasoned horse enthusiasts. You can explore the expansive and beautiful steppe on horseback, riding one of their magnificent, well-cared-for horses, who feel like family. The bond you create with the horses and the surrounding nature is truly special. In addition to riding, you can immerse yourself in Kazakh culture and lifestyle. The ranch provides unique accommodations, from staying in a traditional yurt under the stars in the summer to a cozy guesthouse available year-round. Both options offer a rustic yet comfortable experience, and you can unwind in the private sauna—a perfect way to relax after a day spent outdoors on horseback. They consistently serve delicious traditional home-cooked Kazakh meals and desserts made by a local lady, and each time I visit, I get to try something new. Tea is, of course, served in the traditional Kazakh manner—unlimited! What truly sets this ranch apart is its atmosphere. Every conversation with the owner is a deep exploration of Kazakhstan's history and traditions. You never feel like this is a "touristy" experience; it’s authentic, genuine, and full of heart. This is where you learn about true Kazakh life and culture, far removed from the commercialized versions many places offer. I cannot recommend this place highly enough for anyone seeking a meaningful, rejuvenating, and authentic experience in Kazakhstan. I eagerly anticipate my next trip there!

If you love horses, this place is definitely for you. However, don’t expect traditional music or attire. You can gallop across the stunning Steppe on horseback. The farm features a cozy guesthouse where they serve hearty meals like buckwheat, local apple pie, cabbage beetroot soup, fried rice with meat, and bread stuffed with mashed potatoes. The atmosphere is laid-back, allowing guests to work with the hosts to arrange their own itineraries, though it may take some time, and things might not always be perfectly organized. We enjoyed a leisurely two-hour ride to a yurt in a nearby village, but we had to wait an hour for someone to bring the key. Kazakh modern rural culture has its quirks. For instance, you drink from a bowl, and if the hosts want you to leave quickly, they'll fill it to the brim, prompting you to drink up and move on. If you only receive about two-thirds of a bowl, it means you’re welcome to stay longer. Don’t worry; you can always expect an unlimited refill!
