Snæfellsjökull National Park is home to one of Iceland's most stunning and iconic sights: the glacier-capped cone volcano, Snæfellsjökull. The enigmatic and spiritual presence of this still-active volcano gained fame thanks to Jules Verne. Many of the legendary Sagas are set in this region. Today, its remote beauty and abundant birdlife attract visitors from around the globe. The peninsula is often referred to as “Iceland in a nutshell” due to its varied landscapes.
On this tour, you’ll have the opportunity to experience “tölt,” the unique additional gait of the Icelandic Horse, as we traverse well-maintained riding paths. The long, smooth stretches of sandy beaches make this journey enjoyable for both riders and their horses.
Our horseback riding adventure will take us through vast lava fields, craters, and ash deposits from ancient eruptions. We’ll also explore expansive stretches of light-colored sand at Löngufjörur beach, where only the tide limits the freedom of horse and rider.
