The Tour starts at Fellsmuli farm, situated below Mt. Hekla. The journey takes us to Landmannalaugar, a valley in the Icelandic highlands renowned for its striking rhyolite mountains, vast lava fields and a natural hot spring that lends its name to the valley. We will traverse through the highlands alongside Hekla until we arrive at Landmannahellir, where Icelandic farmers sheltered their sheep in a cave during round-up before constructing a better shed for them. The following day, we proceed with the tour in Landmannalaugar, and the highlight is bathing in the warm river. We then head southwest near Lake Sauðleysuvatn and cross Lambaskarð mountain passage before arriving at Hólaskógur mountain hut, where we spend the night. Finally, the tour concludes back at Fellsmúli farm.

Tour reviews
- MMeghan25 Sep, 2024about providerWhen we arrived we were placed in a room with two twin beds. However it was our honeymoon and we had requested a double bed through the booking agency. Reception said they have limited capacity for double rooms and I explained that we really wanted this, and they did a great job of accommodating to make it right. I would just say to contact the facility directly beforehand to confirm sleeping arrangements if you have a preference like this. Otherwise the facility was excellent. Nice location, close to Reykjavík. They pick up and drop off at the bus station. Rooms and beds were comfortable and clean. The outdoor hot tubs worked and were very hot. The horses were lovely and well cared for. Our guide was a girl from Germany who was very good with the people and horses. The food they served us for breakfast and dinner was good! If I went back I would do a longer point to point ride. But for this particular trip I’m glad we stayed at the hotel.25 Sep, 2024
- BBrit12 Mar, 2024about providerThis ride was my first activity in Iceland and turned out to be a great start! The staff is very well prepared and the horses are very easy to ride - especially the tölt which was fun to try! We got on the horses right away and spent almost the whole duration riding. That was great!12 Mar, 2024
- KKathy2 Mar, 2024about providerThe establishment was well-structured and professional, with guides who were friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. The horses were charming and impeccably behaved. Among our group, three members possessed considerable riding expertise, while one had limited experience. Nonetheless, our guide adeptly matched our mounts to our respective skill levels and adjusted the difficulty of the ride accordingly, ensuring a delightful experience for all. Even our less experienced rider found the tolt technique comfortable and enjoyable. The excursion lasted 1.5 hours, meandering through picturesque countryside, encompassing a serene river crossing, and offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. We delighted in spotting whooper swans and ravens during our journey. Our guide also stopped for photos of us on horseback. Riding the Icelandic Horse was truly a pleasure, the team ensured it was so enjoyable. Thank you for a lovely equine experience on our trip to Iceland.2 Mar, 2024
