Chasing the Midnight Sun in Northwestern Iceland

On the second day of our tour we will get on an equestrian adventure along the northern coastline, where isolation reigns supreme. As you ride along the beach from Katastaðir to Sigurðarstaðir, the blazing midnight sun will illuminate your path, casting an ethereal glow over the landscape. Gentle sound of hooves on the ground, rhythmic crashing of waves, and melodious chorus of birds will be the only sounds you will enjoy.

After this serene nocturnal ride, we will drive back to Halldór's Farm for a well-deserved rest to reflect upon the unforgettable experience of witnessing the midnight sun's splendor and the pristine beauty of Iceland's remote wilderness. (28 km)

Continue your equestrian adventure along the pristine coastline to the northernmost point of Iceland, the charming village of Raufarhöfn. With a population of just 250, this traditional fishing community offers a glimpse into Iceland's rich maritime heritage. 

Along our path, we will encounter the unique phenomenon of the midnight sun. Due to the village's high latitude, the days here are long and the nights are short during the summer months. This celestial spectacle creates an enchanting ambiance, where the sun lingers above the horizon, casting a warm glow over the landscape. (24 km)

On the fourth day of our tour journey continues across the soft tracks of the Melrakkaslétta plains. 

Renowned for its abundant birdlife, numerous fishing lakes and breathtaking beauty during the Summer Solstice, Melrakkaslétta derives its name from the Arctic fox. Keep a keen eye out for these elusive creatures as they stealthily make their way through the landscape, perhaps even witnessing them pilfering eggs from unsuspecting birds' nests. 

Leaving your horses behind at Katastaðir, you will have a restful night's slumber at Halldór's Farm. (35 km)

Immerse in the enchantment of Iceland's longest day and shortest night on the Summer Solstice. Journey to the Arctic Henge in Raufarhöfn, where you will witness the sight of the midnight sun illuminating all three pillars of this mystical structure.

Enjoy an unforgettable horseback ride, guided by the majestic mountains that line the eastern horizon. As you ascend the Kvíar slope, reaching an altitude of 165 meters above sea level, prepare to be mesmerized by the ethereal beauty of Iceland's northern reaches. Witness the midnight sun casting an ethereal glow upon the landscape, creating an unforgettable spectacle that will etch itself into your memory.

On the final day bid farewell to the majestic horses and set course for Húsavík airport to catch the flight to Reykjavik.  

Along the way, we will make a detour to the awe-inspiring Ásbyrgi Canyon, a natural wonder that has captivated imaginations for centuries.

According to ancient Norse mythology, the canyon was formed by the mighty Sleipnir, the eight-legged horse of the god Odin. As Sleipnir galloped across the land, his powerful hooves left an imprint that shaped the canyon's distinctive horseshoe form. The sheer cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and lush vegetation of Ásbyrgi Canyon create a breathtaking spectacle that is not to be missed.
