Mandy Johnson was born and raised in the Yukon wilderness. Many of her relatives come from a long line of horsemen. Mandy has always owned horses, and her family has been privileged enough to be able to earn a living riding horses. Mandy spends any spare time she has with her horses and family in a high mountain camp, soaking up the surroundings she knows as home. All her stallions are well- trained and well- mannered. All the guides of the tour provider are certified in Standard First Aid and CPR.

Route details

Get acquainted with your new 4- legged friends for a couple of next days and take your first ride of the trip, starting from the ranch. All the rides will start at 1:30 p.m. and returns at 4:30 p.m. Feel the pace, listen to the sound of hooves, get used to your new way of transportation and keep riding! Since this program is for beginners, don`t worry, the riding distance will be very gentle.

By the evening arrive at our first base camp (nestled in the spruce trees next to a stream) to spend the first night after an easy day’s ride.

Each cabin is equipped with charming glass-door wood stoves to provide a cozy ambiance and bask in the warmth of wood heat.

You can appreciate mornings and evenings in any weather on the covered porches that come with all cabins. Inside, you will find two bunk beds alongside comfortable furnishings for a restful and relaxing stay.

The newest addition, the Fox Creek Cabin, boasts ample windows for scenic views, a 1/3 loft, exquisite pine flooring, poplar ceilings, and walls constructed from fire-killed spruce logs. Almost entirely crafted from Yukon wood products, this cabin offers privacy near the creek, with a picturesque view of horses grazing in a lush pasture and the majestic mountains in the background. It is equipped with proper cooking amenities including a stove, oven, sink, and a fridge.

The horse packing trip through meadows, forests, wetlands and up into the mountains was so incredible and beautiful. I loved the rhythm and pace Armin set, the chance to explore new trails, taking time to identify native plants and trees, view the numerous beaver dams, enjoy the lakes, streams and bogs and, of course, take in the awesome views every minute of the day. I loved the teamwork of horses, riders (there were four of us), dogs and the leadership of Armin and Mykaela. I loved the food (great cooking Armin!), the campfire chats and the easy comraderie we had. I truly didn’t want our ride to end. I loved it! Thank you Armin, Mandy and family for sharing your passion and your lifestyle.

I had an awesome three day horse packing trip. The owners are super friendly. The two guides Justin and Scott were very seasoned horsemen. The riding was a lot of fun. Narrow winding trails, traversing streams and ponds with water up to the horses belly. We made it up to the top of a small mountain on day 2 with 360 degree views as well as two other hillsides with amazing views in different directions. The base camp equipment (tents and thermarests) were very good quality and in great shape. The base camp also has a larger prospectors tent with a wood stove which was really appreciated on the one evening that it rained as we were able to have dinner in a dry warm place. Just to be clear - this is NOT glamping. This is a true wilderness pack trip. No showers, no running water but these are the kinds of trips that I love. The food was great and Mandy (the owner's baked goods) are super yummy. If you want a great wilderness camping experience with some slightly more challenging riding (including some way finding and cutting of new trails) with some lovely mountain views, then don't hesitate to go wiith this company.

Mandy and her staff were understanding and patient, working with me the day before to reintroduce me to riding after a horseback riding accident 5 years ago. I was matched with a wonderful horse who gave me the most amazing experience as we traveled through Boreal forests to a scenic overlook with a mountain view that took my breath away. Oh, and my husband loved the adventure as well, as it was his idea:)
