Traslasierra Valley to Mountain Range Los Gigantes

We start the day with a fabulous breakfast at the Estancia and then meet the horses. 

It is important to find the right horse for every rider since it will be your companion during your stay, so trust and empathy between rider and horse are essential. Your guides introduce you to our Peruvian Pasos and their special gait, the Paso llano and gives you all the necessary details on the riding techniques. 

Once we have chosen our horse, we go on a two-hour ride in the vicinity of the Estancia which allows us to adapt to our horse and get used to the saddle. 

Upon return, we will have a magnificent Asado (grilled meat) for lunch.

We drive close to the tiny village Panaholma, near the river our horses will be ready for the ride to Ambul. 

When we get there, we have a light lunch and after a rest keep riding to El Volcan from where we take a path that leads us to the remote livestock Estancia Taruca Pampa through magnificent landscapes along adventurous trails, but the horses are sure-footed so you can trust them completely.

We have a delicious asado (grilled meat) for dinner and sleep in comfortable cabins.

At the cattle farm Taruca Pampa we enjoy breakfast and then have the opportunity to share more time with the gauchos and learn how to wrangle the cows and lead them to different meadow grounds. 

At midday we stop for a break and have a picnic before we ride through remote areas, virgin landscapes, impressive canyons and cross crystal clear rivers. 

Finally, we reach a tiny mountain village, San Jeronimo, with few houses, a chapel and meet the inhabitants who welcome us with their friendly hospitality. 

We sleep in comfortable cabins.

We get up eager to continue the riding tour with our horses, have breakfast in the cottages and start the trail towards Ciénaga Britos. 

We stop for lunch at a rural house in the mountains, Don Santos de Barros, a cosy place where the a delicious meal has been prepared for us. 

After a break we continue to Cruz de Caña where the logistic team prepares dinner for us and where we spend the night in cottages.

During breakfast in the cottages we enjoy the beautiful landscape and then continue our trail ride to the Jesuit estancia La Candelaria. The religious order built several estancias throughout Cordoba and other provinces. Each estancia had a different purpose; some of them were convents, others were used for the evangelization, but there were also big farming and livestock establishments. The estancias as well as the Jesuit block in Cordoba city were declared World Heritage sites by the UNESCO. 

After visiting La Candelaria, we have our lunch break there and then continue to ride across the Pampa San Luis until we arrive at Majada de Santiago in the evening, a place that belongs to a livestock estancia. 
The gauchos who work with the cattle receive us with some traditional mates and typical pastry. The logistics team drive us back to Cruz de Caña where we have dinner and spend another night in the cottages.

After breakfast we drive back to Majada de Santiago where we left the horses the day before. 

We ride to San Jerónimo; around midday we will stop at the riverbanks of the San Guillermo river to have lunch and enjoy the landscape and crystal clear water. We then continue towards our destination, San Jerónimo. 

When we get there, we say goodbye to the horses and the logistics team drives us back to the Estancia. 

We have dinner and go to rest.

This morning we enjoy a fabulous breakfast at the Estancia. 

You can choose to either stay at the estancia and have a rest or take part in the guided tour at the Olium olive oil manufacturing and the winery in San Javier. We visit different sites on the way and return to the Estancia for our last dinner together.

After the breakfast, the logistics team drives you to the airport in Cordoba. Thank you for sharing this adventure and wonderful days with us. We hope you enjoyed your holidays and you are always welcome back!
