Wolf and Wild Horse Territory Trail

After breakfast we will go for our first ride in the National Park.

The Peneda-Gerês National Park is a protected area spanning around 70,000 hectares located on the border of Portugal and Spain, adjacent to Spain's Xurês Park. Situated in a mountainous region with altitudes ranging from 700 to 1,500 meters, the park features diverse habitats such as dense oak forests and rugged granite mountains. Within this national park reside two highly endangered mammal species: the Iberian wolf and the Garrana wild horses.

Let's journey through dense oak forests, pass by birch groves that provide refuge for roe deer and wild boar, ride in the areas with chestnut and holly trees where squirrels, jays and orioles reside and take breaks by cliffs where eagles and rare crow species can be spotted. 

In the evening we will arrive back at the house for dinner and some rest.

In the garden, surrounded by one amazing oak forest, you will find the ideal place for your breakfast.

The Peneda-Geres National Park is an area with diverse habitats ranging from high granite mountains to dense forests. This beautiful natural landscape is home to the Iberian wolf, a large predator studied by the local researchers. 

With luck, we might even hear the captivating sound of wolves howling, adding to the beauty of our nature-filled adventure.

Dinner will be awaiting for us in the house as we ride back.

Enjoy your morning meal with the honey produced by us in organically way, homemade jams and marmalades reserved for you. As a company, you will have the chirping of numerous birds that make their home in the oak forest or the bucolic sound of bells from the cattle that are grazing nearby.

We will go for our last ride. The park houses the wild Garrano horse, a precursor to the Mustang, which can be seen roaming freely. Horseback rides in the park often encounter herds of Garrano horses, along with Lusitanos, another Portuguese breed. 

The ride takes you through oak and birch forests, home to roe deer and wild boar, as well as chestnut and holly trees inhabited by squirrels. Birdwatchers may spot jays, orioles, eagles and rare crow species along the cliffs. 

We can explore Fojos, ancient stone traps designed to capture wolves in unique locations, while discussing the history and folklore associated with these creatures.

In the evening we will dine last time together, sharing the best memories.

After breakfast at 10 AM we will transfer you to the airport in Porto. We hope you've had a good time!
