On that day, we will go on an extended hike toward the beautifully winding Bug River.
Our journey takes us through quaint Bug villages, expansive meadows, and trails that meandered past oxbow lakes, which have altered their shapes over time alongside the river's flow. The landscape is open and tranquil, filled with light, space, and remnants of ancient life imprinted in the terrain.
Along the way, we encounter natural floodplains and Bug meadows, which serve as habitats for a variety of bird species. A serene silence envelope us, occasionally interrupted by the sounds of the wind, birdsong, and the rhythmic clip-clop of horses' hooves.
By noon, we arrive at the Bug River, where we pause for an extended break. It is a chance for both participants and horses to enjoy a meal and relax by the riverside.
After our rest, we resume our journey, crossing over the railway bridge that spans the Bug—a notable landmark in the area that has relocated over time and has witnessed the region's transformations.
In the afternoon, we pass through Prostyń, where we see the Basilica of the Holy Trinity and St. Anne. The history of this site goes back to 1510 when—according to local lore—St. Anne appeared to a peasant woman named Małgorzata Błażkowa, asking for a church to be built on a nearby hill. This event sparked a long-standing tradition of pilgrimage and helped shape the identity of this part of the region.
On our return journey, we take a different route, still riding meadows, fields, and forests, allowing ourselves to maintain a relaxed pace and fully appreciate the landscape of our earlier path.
In the evening, we look forward to a hearty meal and some well-deserved rest after a day spent in the saddle.
