It was my first time riding in a Western saddle, and let me tell you, the American Quarter horses are truly remarkable. I had the privilege of riding Boston, a horse that was not only sure-footed and fast but also incredibly intelligent and gentle to handle. And on top of all that, he was absolutely beautiful. We ventured over diverse terrain, pausing for a packed lunch, complete with treats for both us and the horses, while the herd grazed freely around us.
The ride's pace varied, and those horses certainly had a remarkable turn of speed when asked! However, the rugged landscape of Dartmoor kept us constantly captivated with its changing scenery—rivers, valleys, woodlands, and the towering Tors. Our accommodation was comfortable, and the food was simply top-notch. Phil and Mandy proved to be excellent hosts, with a genuine love for "the boys," as they fondly referred to the horses. I learned a wealth of horsemanship from both of them and discovered that I, too, had fallen head over heels for those Quarter horse boys.
