In the Land of the Berber Nomads: Ocean, Desert, Mountains & Oasis

After a hearty breakfast, we saddle up our mounts and set off from the ranch. We head towards the mountains that overlook both the ranch and the ocean, passing through Berber villages and encountering shepherds tending to their flocks.

We'll enjoy a picnic beneath the shade of argan trees. In the afternoon, we descend from the mountains, taking in stunning views of the Tiznit plain. As we traverse the landscape of farms and wadis, we follow a path that allows for easy progress.

In the evening, we are welcomed into a local home, where we have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in Berber culture and way of life for the night.

Shortly after departing from Laouina, we traverse an oasis that offers us both shade and refreshment, following the canals that utilize an ancient irrigation technique. After passing through the village and taking a break at a spring to hydrate the horses, we enter an arid stone desert with the mountains looming in the background.

For lunch, we stop in a village where we can admire the historic adobe structures. Then, we set off once more to tackle the rocky desert! We encounter a few palm trees and navigate through wadis before catching sight of the village of Ouijane, surrounded by its ancient olive tree forest.

After winding through a maze of alleys and shaded paths, we arrive at the home of Valérie and Michel. You can enjoy the swimming pool before settling in for the night in traditional chaima tents, with the option to reserve a Kaïdal tent with private bathrooms for an additional fee.

From Ouijane, we follow a scenic trail that offers stunning views of the wadi.

For this morning, we have two options: the first is a trek through the mountains that involves navigating steep paths, but the spectacular vistas make it worthwhile. Alternatively, we can take a more accessible route that runs along the mountains, suitable for everyone.

After enjoying a picnic with views of the argan plantations and rocky cliffs, we’ll spend the afternoon exploring the villages nestled at the foot of the mountains.

In the evening, we will retreat to a comfortable hotel located at the edge of the "little Sahara" for the night.

To start our day, we traverse the sand dunes and then make our way along the Massa wadi, the largest in the Souss region. 

After enjoying lunch near the expansive farms, we continue to Massa, following ancient donkey paths that reflect the enduring cultures that have shaped this landscape for centuries. The water here nurtures vibrant life in the delta, creating a striking contrast to the arid terrains we've passed through earlier. 

Upon arriving at our hotel, you can unwind by the pool before dinner, which offers a beautiful view of the palm grove.

We depart from Massa, heading towards the coast along trails that traverse arid desert landscapes. 

Enjoy a lunch with a stunning sea view atop the cliffs. The breathtaking galloping paths lead us through a new sandy desert to a lodge managed by a Berber family. 

You'll have the opportunity to experience life in a Berber village.

On our final day, we complete our journey across the desert, navigating the cliff tops until we reach the fishing port of Aglou, where we'll stop for lunch.

Afterward, we make our way back to the ranch along a stunning 15 km stretch of fine sandy beach!

Upon arriving at the ranch, you'll have the opportunity to help care for the horses and can indulge in a well-deserved massage (available for an extra fee with prior booking).

We’ll wrap up this week with a hearty Friday couscous, providing a grand finale to our adventure!

Depending on your flight schedule, you can choose to explore Mirleft or Tiznit, or indulge in a relaxing session with our skilled masseuse / beautician, who will be happy to ease any muscle tension. 

Afterward, we'll transfer you to Agadir airport for your return flight, leaving you with cherished memories.
