What does it take to ride across Mongolia on your own — with your horse, your pack horse, and the open country ahead? This training is made for riders who dream of a real solo trek but want to start with knowledge, not guesswork.
Over 5 to 7 days, you learn the practical skills needed for independent cross-country horse trekking in Mongolia. Training covers riding and handling Mongolian horses, managing a pack horse, packing tack and equipment, planning a safe route, finding water and grass, speaking with herder families, understanding local customs, and preparing for emergencies. You’ll also learn essential Mongolian phrases and how to read the behavior of the horse behind those calm brown eyes.
The training takes place at camp, with meals and ger accommodation included. After completing at least 5 days, suitable horses and equipment can be rented for your independent journey. Dates are flexible, and the focus can be shaped around what you most need to learn. Come prepared, train carefully, and give yourself the best start for a true solo ride across Mongolia!
