Two Valley Trail

In the morning we will have a half-day ride near the base that is followed by the lunch.

In the afternoon there is a lesson in manege.
Those who prefer to explore the surroundings there is a possibility of a free afternoon when you can go to Spoleto town.

Today marks the beginning of our trail ride adventure, starting with the first leg of our journey. We'll be riding along wide paths that allow for several canters along the historic Flaminian Way. Our route will take us through picturesque villages like Ancaiano and Belvedere, meandering through woods and a small hamlet before arriving in the beautiful village of Ferentillo. Ferentillo, notable for its ancient twin towers that once protected against marauding armies and bandits, spans the fast-flowing Nera River, which gives its name to the stunning Valnerina valley.

We'll cross the bridge to the other side of the village, called Precetto, where we'll enjoy a picnic lunch by the river. After lunch, we'll continue our ride along the riverbank, following the course of the Nera and passing through several villages. We'll have opportunities for canters along the way and even a chance to stop for a beer. Our journey will then take us to Scheggino, a charming little town on the river's edge, renowned for the trout that swim right through its center.

Continuing along gentle paths, we'll eventually reach Sant' Anatolia di Narco, where we'll stay in a former Benedictine monastery, now a hotel, for the next two nights. The horses will be let out to graze nearby, fed, and settled for the night while we take showers, have dinner, and enjoy a restful overnight stay. Our bags will have been delivered by car in the meantime, ensuring a smooth and comfortable end to our day's adventure.

After breakfast, we'll embark on a shorter full-day ride, exploring the scenic trails around the area. We'll pause for a picnic lunch along the way, enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Upon our return, we'll settle the horses into their picturesque paddocks near the river within the monastery's grounds.

As the horses graze, you can relax with an aperitivo from the hotel bar, taking in the serene view. Dinner will be served in the charming monastery courtyard, providing a perfect end to our day's journey.

Today, after breakfast, we saddle up and ride along a section of the historic Spoleto-Norcia mountain railway. Recently converted into a spectacular trail for walkers and horse riders, this route takes us through ancient tunnels and offers dramatic views at every turn. Originally, this railway line linked the valleys of Spoleto and Valnerina before falling into disuse.

As we ride, we'll pass several picturesque old railway stations and the beautifully restored village of Tassinare. Our journey continues to Forca di Cerro, the highest point that the old railway line had to climb before descending towards Spoleto. Here, we leave the railway line and wind our way down towards the charming town of Poreta in the Spoleto valley.

We will conclude our day's ride in Poreta, where we'll have dinner and stay overnight in a comfortable agritourism. The horses will be settled in nearby, ensuring they are well cared for as we relax and enjoy our evening.

Poreta is famous for its olive oil production, and after breakfast, we'll ride along gentle trails flanked by olive trees on either side. This area holds historical significance as well, as it was once traversed by St. Francis and his followers. We'll pass by a monastery and enjoy several canters along the way before stopping in an olive grove for a picnic lunch.

In the afternoon, we'll meet up with the horsebox and cars, which will transport both riders and horses back to the base for dinner and an overnight stay. 

This final leg of our journey combines the serene beauty of olive groves with a touch of historical charm, providing a fitting conclusion to our adventure.

After breakfast, we'll set out on a half-day ride, enjoying the scenic trails and the fresh morning air. Upon our return, we'll have lunch together, savoring local flavors and reflecting on the morning's adventure.

In the afternoon, you'll have the option to either participate in a lesson in the manege, honing your riding skills, or enjoy a free afternoon to relax, explore the surroundings, or simply unwind. 

This flexible schedule allows everyone to make the most of their last day according to their preferences.
