It's important to know
Personal equipment you need for the tour
- Riding Helmet - we strongly recommend that you wear a properly fitted riding helmet of the current standard which is PAS015 or BSEN1384. Helmets are available at the stables if you do not have your own
- Jodhpurs - jodhpurs, breeches or other comfortable trousers (jeans may rub and can also be quite hot)
- Riding Boots - it is important to have correct shoes or boots for horse riding. Jodhpur or ankle boots with a rubber sole are recommended but sturdy shoes with a definite heel are acceptable (such as walking boots)
- Half Chaps - these are great when worn with ankle boots and help prevent the stirrup leathers rubbing against your legs
- T-shirts and long-sleeved shirts
- Sunhat
- Sunglasses
- Fleece - Although the weather is generally very warm, the evenings can be a bit cooler
- Warm layers - At times the evening temperature drops significantly
- Casual Clothes - for when out of the saddle
- Water Bottle - it's very important to drink a lot of water when it's hot, especially when doing physical activities
- Raincoat - it is always a wise idea to pack a waterproof/ windproof jacket!
- Personal Items - toiletries, any medicines you require and please be sure to take insect repellent and plenty of sun cream
- Camera and Spare Batteries/Charger - an absolute must! It is also a good idea to take a camera case you can strap around your waist or onto a belt for whilst you are riding
- A copy of your passport

For the past four years, I've made it a tradition to spend my summers immersing myself in nature, and this year has been truly exceptional. A week-long residential adventure took us to some of Sicily's most treasured spots. Our journey kicked off in San'Ambrogio, where we enjoyed an unforgettable day by the sea, complete with a magical horseback swim. It was an incredible experience! We then ventured into the Alte Madonie for two days of pure mountain bliss. Despite facing fog, wind, rain, and cold, the thrill of ascending high into the mountains was priceless. From Piano Zucchi to Piano Battaglia, Pizzo Carbonara, and Piano Pomo, we were treated to awe-inspiring vistas and an intimate connection with Sicily's soul. Our refuge at the "Francesco Crispi" shelter provided warmth, laughter, and a crackling fireplace. Our horses were steadfast companions throughout the journey. In Pollina, we stumbled upon a hidden gem atop a hill, home to a fascinating Manna museum. Our gallops along the trails left lasting impressions. A visit to the Sanctuary of Gibilmanna was another highlight, offering breathtaking panoramas stretching all the way to Cefalù. But what truly made this experience extraordinary was the wonderful company. Sharing these adventures with Simona, a longtime riding companion, and meeting new friends like Jasmine enriched the journey beyond measure. Special thanks to Luciano's team, especially Marialuisa and Paola, the McLeod Sisters, for making every moment unforgettable. In summary, the organiser provides an opportunity to embark on a horseback adventure that delves deep into Sicily's authentic essence. I wholeheartedly recommend this extraordinary and genuine experience! - SSimonaabout provider13 May, 2023

The horseback riding excursion for my birthday turned out exactly as I had imagined. From the mountains, we made our way to the beach through several trails, enjoying the spectacular panorama and landscape along the way. And finally, the gallop on the beach—a childhood dream come true. I am immensely grateful to Luciano for making it all possible; he's as friendly and accommodating as they come. Thank you!
