On this unique excursion, we participate alongside farmers in South Iceland as they gather numerous sheep from the mountains. The sheep are herded into the communal sheepfold of Rangárvallaafréttur near the renowned Landmannalaugar geothermal region. The colorful rhyolite mountains in shades of yellow, red and green create a mystical atmosphere in this area.

Here, with the majestic Mt. Hekla looming overhead, we guide the sheep across the dark volcanic sands, remnants of ash ejected by the same volcano over the centuries. Local farmers have been herding sheep in this region for generations. Gain insights from them on managing the flock, guiding sheep down slopes, crossing rivers and leading them out of sheltered valleys to their nightly resting spot, before beginning another day of rounding up more sheep.
