We are excited to introduce this enchanting autumn horseback riding experience in the North West of Iceland. This tour offers a diverse range of landscapes, from stunning mountain views overlooking the expansive Húnaflói Fjord to the captivating highlands with panoramic vistas of the Hofsjökull and Langjökull glaciers.

During the tour, you will encounter sheep farmers returning from their seasonal sojourn in the wilderness, guiding a large flock of sheep back to civilization. Witnessing 14,000 sheep making their way home alongside over 30 shepherds and 100 horses is a truly unique and joyful spectacle. You can even join in the festivities, singing and celebrating with the group.

Participating in this Round-Up provides an authentic and immersive experience, allowing you to actively participate in herding and sorting the animals alongside the local community.

You will arrive to Haukur's Farm around noon and have a nice local lunch. After we have met our horses we start our ride through the beautiful Vatnsdalur valley. The valley is the setting of the Vatnsdælir Saga and our guide, Haukur, knows this Saga well. It will be interesting to listen to him tell stories of the past and present. Our route runs along the banks of river Vatnsdalsá and we have to cross it several times.

We end our ride deep in the valley where our horses rest but we go back to Haukur's Farm and enjoy a well-deserved meal and relax in the hot tub. (3 – 4 hours)
