Upon waking up in this beautiful environment, you can savor a leisurely and nutritious breakfast without feeling rushed. The mornings are typically sunny, making it the perfect time to go for a ride.
We recommend choosing one of our short or half day rides. The most popular and highly recommended activity is the Condor Project ride. The Condor reserve is situated just 3km from the hacienda, nestled in a native forest valley. Here, rescued condors are housed in an aviary until they are ready to be released back into the wild. Visitors can also learn about the wildlife of Zuleta and the conservation efforts for endangered condors and Spectacled bears. The visit includes a 3-hour ride, which features a 1-hour talk.
The journey begins by passing through the Hacienda’s pastures, milking sheds and Trout farm on charming cobblestone roads. Along the way, you will see ancient Caranqui ‘tola’ pyramids dating back to before the Inca Conquest. After the ride, visitors have the option to climb the highest ceremonial pyramid for stunning views of the area. There is also a chance to spot wild condors soaring on the mountainside. Additionally, the visit includes an approximately one-hour talk at the Condor Huasi facilities.
Upon returning to the Hacienda, you can savor a delightful lunch, possibly featuring fresh trout from the farm, while marveling at the large hummingbirds that frequent the flowers on the patio. Later in the day, you might want to explore the local women's cooperative and other community initiatives, offering the opportunity to purchase beautifully crafted, vibrant, hand-stitched items. After shopping, you can hop on a horse-drawn carriage for a scenic ride through the eucalyptus valley to the local library, where children spend their afternoons.
After that a cozy fire will be lit and a warm bath will be waiting for you to unwind before dinner, ending the day in a most relaxing manner.
