Some places invite you to ride, and others invite you to listen. In the green mountains of Costa Rica, surrounded by forest, rivers, and distant volcanoes, this retreat begins quietly — by stepping into the world of the horse. Here the experience is not rushed. You slow down, observe the herd, and start to understand how horses communicate, move, and live together.

Over three days you are paired with your own horse, allowing a real connection to grow. The journey begins on the ground: learning how horses read energy, how timing shapes communication, and how trust begins. Gradually the work continues in the saddle. Trail rides lead through coffee plantations, tropical forest paths, and wide valleys with views of Volcán Turrialba and the Cordillera de Talamanca. Along the way you may cross rivers, pass waterfalls, watch birds and wildlife, and even swim with your horse in the river.

Accommodation is set in nature — either in a beautiful colonial-style house or in open eco-decks overlooking the valley. Days are shared with a small group of riders and guided by an experienced instructor. If you’re ready to understand horses in a deeper way and explore Costa Rica from the saddle, come ride with us!

Based in Costa Rica, I specialize in horse starting, education, and rehabilitation, while working as an equestrian tourism guide and riding instructor. My path has been shaped by two inseparable passions: horses and nature. My approach is firmly rooted in horsemanship, based on a deep understanding of equine ethology. By learning how horses think, communicate, and perceive their environment, I aim to build a relationship founded on trust, cooperation, and mutual respect. Whether I am working on the ground, starting young horses, or guiding riders, my priority is always to create a genuine partnership with the horse, free from unnecessary pressure. Before dedicating myself fully to the equestrian world, I trained in environmental studies, biodiversity, and ecology. This background strongly influences the way I guide and design my tours. During equestrian stays and horseback excursions, I do far more than lead a ride: I share my knowledge of local wildlife, flora, ecosystems, and natural history, offering a deeper and more meaningful connection to the landscapes we travel through. Today, I design and lead equestrian experiences as complete, immersive journeys—where the horse is a true partner, and where discovery happens with awareness, curiosity, and respect. My goal is to offer authentic and enriching adventures that honor the horses, the riders, and the natural environment that surrounds us.

Route details

Day 1
Meeting the Horses and First Connection

Arrival in the morning at the ranch and check-in to your chosen accommodation, either a nature-immersed eco-deck or a room in the guesthouse.

The day starts with time spent observing the herd. About twenty horses live freely in the pastures, and from a respectful distance you will watch how they interact with each other. You will learn to notice their body language, understand how their social structure works, and recognize their natural needs. This first experience often changes how people see horses.

After lunch at the farm, an interactive session introduces the basics of how horses learn. You explore questions such as how horses understand signals, how clear communication works, and why good timing and consistency matter.

Later comes the first real meeting with your horse. In the round pen, working at liberty, you learn how to approach the horse, manage your energy, and begin building a connection.

The day ends with simple horse care: grooming, washing, feeding, and bringing the horses back to the pasture.

Dinner and overnight at the ranch.
