Golden Hill Trail

After an exclusive breakfast together and an initial assessment ride in the paddock, you get assigned your horse. Then we start a panoramic ride with incredibly beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and the mountains. The hacienda is located at about 750 m above sea level, with the Pacific Ocean in front of us and the cloud forest behind. After this ride we take the horses to the river where they can cool off.

Riding: 3-6 hours.

We ride to the hacienda's own waterfall. Some climbing is announced today after a nice ride over our hacienda and through grazing herds of cattle we reach the mountain river Zamora. We hike or climb up the river and 20 min later we reach the waterfall with a very nice pool. Here we can swim undisturbed and enjoy our packed lunch. We return to the hacienda in the afternoon.

This morning, we begin early at around 5 am to witness the sunrise while riding horses. As the sun rises, the scenery becomes vibrant with the emergence of birds and animals. We bring breakfast with us in saddle bags to savor in the peacefulness of the outdoors.

Embark on the Path of Orchids and venture into the cloud forest, where you encounter an array of unique plant and animal species - keep your eyes peeled for the elusive Quetzel, known as God's bird. Gallop through lush meadows and immerse yourself in a fairytale-like jungle filled with diverse flora and fauna, including coyotes, coatis, possums and deer who are unaccustomed to being hunted and therefore less timid. Take a break at a quaint local restaurant that is filled with authentic charm and hospitality, far from the typical tourist hotspots. Afterward, hop back on your horse and continue your journey until you arrive at the Cloud Forest Café.

Following a traditional Costa Rican breakfast of Gallo Pinto, you will embark on another horseback ride through the cloud forest, where elusive predators such as pumas, jaguars and ocelots can be found. Along the way, you will encounter beautiful orchids growing abundantly, similar to how buttercups grow in Europe. As you make your way back to the ranch, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the mountains and the Pacific Ocean.

After breakfast you return to the airport for your flight home.
