Embark on a captivating trip to Whitehorse, where you will delve into the town’s rich history and culture, particularly its fascinating Gold Rush era. Uncover the stories of those intrepid pioneers who embarked on arduous journeys to the gold mines of Dawson City. Explore historical landmarks such as the S.S. Klondike or the Mc Bride museum, or take in the breathtaking scenery at Miles Canyon. For those seeking souvenirs or last-minute travel essentials, Whitehorse offers a delightful selection of shops.

Return to the ranch for a satisfying meal and a cozy evening by the campfire, creating lasting memories. Enjoy a comfortable night’s rest in our charming wood cabins, accommodating 2 to 4 guests per cabin.

The morning of our departure is a flurry of activity. We will demonstrate the packing technique, ensuring everything is secure for the journey ahead. Once everyone is comfortably settled in the saddle, we will embark on our journey towards the Bonneville area. A short hike leads us to a high plateau, revealing breathtaking views of Fish Lake and the surrounding mountains. This will be your first taste of the untamed beauty and expansive wilderness that defines the Yukon. 

We will camp near a tranquil lake that evening, where each of you can set up your own tent and share in the evening chores. A delicious dinner cooked over the campfire will be followed by relaxation around the fire, and the important task of caring for the horses. Tonight you will experience the magic of sleeping under the stars in your own tent.

Following a hearty breakfast and breaking camp, you will embark on a scenic journey towards Ibex Lake, venturing into the Yukon’s foothills where snow still clings to the towering peaks. The chosen route will depend on the weather: either along the lake shores, surrounded by fragrant pine forests, or over the challenging Marmot Pass (1800m). This high-altitude pass offers breathtaking views and the chance to encounter majestic Dall sheep, or even a formidable grizzly or elusive wolf. 

Today’s trek covers approximately 40 kilometers before reaching Ibex Lake, where you will set up camp for the night.

As the sun rises, your morning ride climbs above the tree line, offering breathtaking views and prime wildlife spotting opportunities. The trail leads you towards Mud Lake, an ancient body of water carved by glaciers. Find a patch of lush grass for your horses to graze and enjoy a leisurely lunch and a nap on the shores of this serene lake.

Refreshed, you will continue your journey, searching for wolf dens as you make your way to Rose Creek, your overnight destination. As dusk settles, gather around the campfire overlooking the vast, pristine valley, the perfect way to end a day of adventure.

Embark on an adventure through breathtaking landscapes, transitioning from towering alpine forests to sun-drenched meadows. Majestic coastal mountains rise in the southeast, while sparkling lakes, sculpted by industrious beavers, dot the terrain. Our destination- a pristine lake nestled at the foot of these mighty peaks, a heaven for observing vibrant wildlife.

Camp awaits, our temporary paradise for the next few days. After tending to our trusty steeds, watch them gallop freely to their pasture. Have a hearty meal, gather around the crackling campfire, sharing stories under the starlit sky.

It is a well-deserved day of rest at Rose Lake! Time to soak up the sunshine, take a refreshing swim, explore the surrounding mountains on a hike, or simply relax with a good book by the campsite. 

After a quick shower and freshening up, it is the perfect chance to spend some quality time with the horses in their natural environment. Tonight we will be cozying up in our tent under the stars.

Feeling refreshed and ready for adventure, we will embark on a liberating horseback ride today, leaving the packhorse behind. Our route will take us along the beautiful shores of Rose Lake, traversing both water and forest. This area is known for its abundant wildlife, particularly moose, Dall sheep, and grizzly bears. 

After an exhilarating ride, we will head back to camp for a relaxing evening under the stars.

Following breakfast, we will embark on a trapping adventure, setting out in canoes to explore the breathtaking scenery and gather our evening meal. After a paddling lesson, we will head to a scenic bay to observe wildlife and try our hand at fishing for lake trout and arctic char. 

Back at camp, Pierre will demonstrate fish filleting and share his expertise on Yukon trapping traditions and techniques. Rose Lake, a strategic location for trapping wolves, lynx, wolverine, beaver, and otter, is still actively used by trappers during winter. We will care for the horses before dinner, enjoying roasted marshmallows around the campfire as the sun dips below the horizon.

Today’s adventure takes us on a long ascent to alpine meadows, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Coastal Range behind us. After crossing a vast plateau teeming with caribou, we descend into a glacial valley and reach the sandy banks of Mud Lake, where we will set up camp for the night (avoiding any muddy spots!). 

Once settled, everyone pitches in to gather water, set up camp, and assist the cook in preparing a delicious meal over the fire.

Today the landscape opens up into expansive, generous spaces. We will ride for 35 km, winding our way through glacial ponds, beaver dams, and meandering rivers, before emerging into a forested area that leads us back to an alpine plateau, our final campsite. 

We will gather firewood and set up our tents, bidding farewell to the wilderness before rejoining civilization. This evening, we will gather around the campfire, sharing stories and enjoying the company of our trusty steeds.

Today marks our final day of riding, a bittersweet farewell to the wilderness. We will bid adieu to the alpine plateau and descend towards home, traversing open ground before venturing into the comforting embrace of the forest. It is a shorter ride today, allowing for one last glimpse of the untamed beauty before slowly reintegrating into civilization.

As the day comes to a close, we will drive into town for a well-deserved shower and a delicious meal at a local restaurant. Afterward, we will return to the ranch for a final night together, sharing stories, laughter and farewell drinks. If you are feeling adventurous, this is the perfect opportunity to experience a scenic floatplane ride over the stunning landscape.
